About.com: French Language

I chose this blog and found it interesting because it had to do with a topic that I have always been intrigued in. In many other countries around the world, children are learning English from the same time they are beginning to learn their L1- yet our students in 7th and 8th grade our complaining and asking te question, "Why cant everyone just speak English?" or "Why do we have to learn this?" Maybe if our students were incorporated into new language learning from an early age, they would be more accepting of the subject, the language and the idea of learning about things different from them. Instead, our government officials are cutting these subject areas and saving money- where is the focus on our public education???
